Welcome to St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Governor area.


Our main role is to support the Head teacher and the staff - the phrase often used to describe this role is 'a critical friend'. We help them to set and reach targets and to strive for excellence across the whole spectrum of school life. We are committed to providing an excellent environment for all pupils to enjoy during their time at our school.


The two key documents used for this are the Developing Excellence Plan (DEP) and the Self-Evaluation Form (SEF). The DEP sets out the priorities and strategic plan for the school, with targets that everyone works towards and the SEF sets out how well the school is doing and where we aim to make improvements.

The Governing Body meets at least once every (new) term.


Our Governors are:



The Governing Body comprises of Foundation Governors, Local Authority Governors, Parent Governors and Staff Governors. Foundation Governors are appointed by the Bishop. All Governors have equal responsibilities.


As well as meeting as a full Governing Body, Governors also sit on 3 sub-committees dedicated to different functions relating to school life:



These sub-committees meet regularly to discuss topical, termly and annual standing items.  All policies are processed through the various committees. All meetings are formally minuted by a Clerk.
