FS2 Spring Newsletter
After speaking with many of you at parents meetings, we thought these links might be useful.
This link is to a document called "What to expect, when?", which explains how we work in Foundation and breaks down what your child's learning might look like at different ages, in the different areas of the EYFS framework. It also gives examples of tasks that you could do with your child to help them develop in each of the areas.
I hope you will find this useful and if anybody would like a paper copy please ask Miss Cooper.
We teach the children the Letters and Sounds systematic synthetic phonics programme, and have started at Phase 2 this half term.
This is a link to the Letters and Sounds document, so that you can see where the children are currently at, and what they will be taught next. This also gives you some examples of activities that we often use, that perhaps you could try at home with your child. By the end of half term we will have learnt all of the set 5 sounds, and have made a good start on their segmenting and blending skills.
Although we follow the Letters and Sounds programme, we teach our phonics through the Jolly Phonics songs. These can be found on YouTube. There is also a free app that can be downloaded on your phone or tablet.
